I am a huge fan of J. Cole, I think he is a very humble person. Kudos to J. Cole for his Grammy nomination on BEST NEW ARTIST, I hands down agree… this BOY is SICK!!!

Hip Hop DX reports — Cole explains that it was Hov’s own advice that pushed him as an artist and led him to success.

With a platinum single, a gold record and Grammy nomination already to his, J. Cole has positioned himself to be one of 2012′s most promising artists. Now, the Roc Nation rapper talks about what it took him to get where he is now and how his boss Jay-Z advised him on his path to success.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Cole spoke on his numerous accomplishments this past year and following in Hova’s footsteps. He said that Jay taught him that the best way to navigate his career is to simply follow his instinct. Furthermore, he added that Jay’s hands-off approach pushed him not to rest on his laurels and focus on growing his brand.

“I’m grateful for everything that happened, but I’m not satisfied. There [are] still accomplishments that keep happening from the work that I put in last year and from the last two, three years…but those are just reminders of the work that I did. That’s in the past. Like, what’s the next move? That’s my mind state,” he explained. “Early in my album process [Jay-Z] was like, ‘When you’re first starting out, it’s good to not know everything.’ He made the analogy that when you’re first starting it’s almost like you’re trying to get across a room, but the room is pitch-black, and when you finally get to the other side of the room and you flick on the light, you look back and you realize there were snakes over here, there was a hole over there…but because you were following your heart, you made the right decision.”

He added, “One thing I appreciate about Jay-Z is he let me do it my way and let me figure it out…he never compromised or interfered with my creative process. There was a never a point when he was like, ‘I need to come in and play big brother and show you how to do this.’ He let me figure it out, and it feels better to win like that. It feels better winning knowing that I figured this thing out on my own and if it wouldn’t have worked, I would have been OK with bumping my head and failing on my own terms, rather than winning on somebody else’s.”

SoulCulture TV caught up with J. Cole on his return to the London’s Wireless Festival this weekend, having torn down the Pepsi Max stage for his second year running, to discuss the theory behind the title of his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story [out on September 27], his fans’ mixed reactions to the project’s lead single “Work Out” as the follow up to “Who Dat,” and his understanding of the need to “play the game to change the game” with radio-friendly tracks without compromising the quality of his finished album; swearing, “I’m not gonna have an album full of pop records… I would quit before I did that.” Watch the North Carolina rapper speak in greater detail on his debut project.

J. Cole Compares “Cole World” To Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint,” Speaks On Production

Hip Hop DX reports — The Roc Nation rapper says his album is “timeless” and explains how much of a hand he had in its production.

J. Cole is dropping his debut Cole World: The Sideline Story on September 27th, the culmination of years on the grind. During an interview with FlyTimesDaily.com, the Roc Nation rapper says the resulting product is worth the wait and that the album will most likely stand the test of time.

“Timeless. I feel like six months from now, one year from now, two, three years from now, it’ll give you the same feeling. It’s got a feeling, it’s got a sound to it,” he said. “Like The Blueprint. I’m not saying it sounds like Blueprint… I’m saying I can throw the album in at any time and I’ll know what it’s going to sound like and how it’s going to feel. Like it’s one of those. But only time can tell.”

He also spoke on his production on the LP, explaining that though he produced the majority of the tracks, he still had a hand in the others.

“Ten of the 13 on there. Even a couple of the ones that I didn’t produce, I had a hand in and co-produced,” he said. “So the intro, all the music changes is me on there. I didn’t do that beat but I did the switch-ups. I didn’t do that beat, but I did the switch-ups. So [like on “In the Morning” ] when Drake comes in or I come in, guitars and piano… I handled like 95 percent of the album production wise, which I’m super proud of, of course.”

J. Cole Deads Rumors on Rihanna, Roc Nation Rumors

Ya’ll haters keep on hatin’ on my dude!!! you’re making him more & more famous…I love me some J.COLE!!!

Hip Hop DX reports — Although J. Cole most recently made headlines for the release of his long-awaited collaboration with Jay-Z, the past few weeks have found the Roc Nation emcee making news for a number of more sensational reasons. Now, Young Simba recently spoke to MTV2′s Sucker Free to clear the air of a few pesky the rumors circulating around the Internet.

J. Cole started off deading the much-talked about rumors that he and tour mate Rihanna made a sex tape together and that he had been dropped from his label. He added that while he’s happy that he’s making headlines even without having dropped his long-awaited debut LP Cole World: The Sideline Story, it’s annoying that people are making up such personal stories about him all for profit.

“I just let ‘em talk. They also say I’ve got a sex tape [with Rihanna] and they say I got dropped from Roc Nation,” joked Cole. “It’s been a hell of a two weeks. They put a picture of one of my fans on the Internet and said it was my girlfriend…I figured out, now that I’m on the other side [of the rumor mill], it’s just so random. It doesn’t start from no where, it’s just like tabloids back in the day. People get paid, they making their money off of making up kind of outlandish stories. ‘Jay-Z said he gon’ beat J. Cole up when he sees him, said he better watch out.’ And it’s always a very reliable source [saying it].”

He added, “That’s a genius rumor [the sex tape with Rihanna], ‘cus that’s still sticking, and it’s two weeks later almost. It’s an annoying compliment. The fact that they’re even talking and I don’t have no album out and I’m making the little…gossip sites [is cool], but I stay getting texts from people saying, ‘Oh man, you good? You all right? I heard you got dropped. Keep your head up, fam.’”
