First off I would like to thank LYFETYME for taking time to answer my questions, this is my 1st OFFICIAL Q&A and I couldn’t have chosen a better person. Not only is his music inspiring & a breath of fresh air, but it’s also what he stands for he isn’t your average EMCEE. A very special thank you to him, because Lyfe has been supporting me & my blog since we have become acquainted. So mad LOVE to you LYFETYME, you good people with a great soul!!! XOXO thank you for supporting me always!!!
sxyvee: What is your full name?
lyfetyme: Lyfetyme is my self given name that describes what I’m about and my character as a person. Love, Hope, positivity, freedom, truth, and awareness are all thing I represent. [his government name is a secret, he might have to kill you LOL]
sxyvee: Where are you from?
lyfetyme: I am from Flatbush/Carnarsie Brooklyn Nyc.
sxyvee: Is that where you grew up?
lyfetyme: I grew up both in Flatbush & Carnarsie & love all the lessons I learned from both hoods.
sxyvee: What type of music do you do?
lyfetyme: I make Hip Hop from the heart and Soul. I make honest music that sheds light on the struggles of myself and others. I make music to inspire others to believe in themselves. I want listeners to feel empowered after listening to my music. “I paint pictures with words that can be ugly or beautiful depending on the message I am trying to convey to my audience.” [real talk, it can't get any realer than this!]
sxyvee: When did you start making music?
lyfetyme: I started making music in Junior High School, I started freestyling then eventually in HS I started battling other kids around my way and in school. [so he just started like 2yrs ago, J/K]
sxyvee: Who have been your musical inspirations?
lyfetyme: My biggest inspiration musically I would have to say is Method Man because his first album was the first album I bought and studied. It was like giving someone raw cocaine who never smoked anything or ever had a drink before. I was hooked ever since to HipHop and became a lifelong fan of the genre. Wu-Tang, Redman, Tupac, Biggie, Nas , & Jay-Z have all been huge inspirations. [he's so EAST COAST!]
sxyvee: Who would you compare yourself to & why?
lyfetyme: I have been told I sound like Jay-z, Nas, and even Raekwon. I don’t believe I sound like any of them and I am too much of a fan of their music to compare myself to them. If anything I think it’s a New York sound people might pick up.
sxyvee: Have you ever been signed to a label?
lyfetyme: No I have never been signed. I have been to the labels and AnRs but nothing ever transpired. Right now my music is on Itunes and I do everything independently. I am not against getting signed to a major label I am however against signing a 360 deal. I believe 360 deals are legal extortion.
sxyvee: What is your goal? Where do you see yourself in this music industry in the next 5 years?
lyfetyme: My goal is to make an impact in Hip Hop and the culture as a whole and get us to value family, loyalty, and self respect instead of the false dreams the corporations sell us. I want to visit schools and speak to our kids and tell them the truth. 5 years from now I want at least 4 classic albums added to my catalogue and even venture off into movies. There is so much more than the prisons we build around us mentally in the hood and I want to be able to help many understand that with my music.
sxyvee: If someone wanted to book you, who would they contact (i.e. mgmt)?
lyfetyme: I can be contacted at lyfetymebk@gmail.com or BBM: 32D6FC71
sxyvee: Do you do live shows? If so, what has been your most favorable one?
lyfetyme: Yes I love performing!! Nothing like connecting with the crowd and them giving you back that energy. One of my favorite performances was at a bar mitzvah, watching lawyers and doctors and their kids enjoy your music is a great feeling lol. It wasn’t the typical crowd I perform for but it was fun.
sxyvee: Do you produce your own beats?
lyfetyme: No I wish! Lol, my producer DJ Twist Aqua does the majority of my production. He’s a humble talented individual.
sxyvee: What inspires you to write?
lyfetyme: My inspiration comes from within most of the times. My own experiences and things I have witnessed growing up both good and bad. Usually I clear my thoughts before I write then I zone out to the beat. Sometimes the track can determine what type of song I write. I tap into self and use my words as colors to paint the picture. [I am really his inspiration LOL]
lyfetyme: Thank you for giving me a platform to connect with fans!!!
S/O to my team JO-JO, Ceelo, Lugz, Twist, Reemo, & Droc and everyone else that holds me down and continue to support my growth and rise to the top. [AHEM let's not forget SXYVEE ]
God Bless,
Lyfetyme
