Up and coming designer, Sherika Nicole

Hung Up Boutique

My name is Sherika Nicole single mother with two boys. I’ve always been a very outgoing person with a style sense. I love fashion and helping others find their style and the perfect fit. With that being said, I started making Fancy Tags personalized bracelets. Business started to do good and my customers started asking if I sell clothes as well. I started purchasing items here and there. Business was great just by word of mouth. So I decided to take my business to another level and launch an online boutique.

Designer of the Week: Magu Clothing

 Magu Clothing

 About Magu Clothing:

Magu Clothing is not all about what you see or wear on the outside.  The name of this clothing line is as original as its style and fashion.   Magu is as simple as the first two letters of my first and last name.  I didn’t think that naming my company could be as easy as that.  After much thought and consideration, the name just fit.  Magu is who I am, and what I represent.
In 2007, Magu Clothing kicked off with the Signature Tee that was made available in one location in Manhattan and quickly spread throughout the 5 boroughs.  Magu Clothing is now available in select store locations and has made appearances in other states.  After the successful launch of the Signature Tee and Magu Hoodie, particular attention was given to detailed designs, fun colors and comfortable fabric.
Magu Clothing isn’t just “another t-shirt line,” it’s a fashion statement.  It incorporates unique details and fun designs to allow you to express yourself, while our quality fabrics provide you with durability and comfort.  Magu Clothing is committed to bringing quality and style to YOU and the fashion industry.

An upcoming fashion designer with a unique style. See bio, photos, and fashion below. Please see contact information to purchase  the designer’s clothing, or to network.

Tell a friend, to tell a friend, to tell a friend about, LOVEdreFRESh .

My name is Dre Broaddus, 25yr old and I am a fashion designer from Philadelphia, “The city of brotherly love”. Personally speaking, I am a walking promotion of being different. I go by a couple mottos “stand out instead of fitting in”“, be you”, and what I go by every day, “love my fresh“, which is also the name of my blog & brand.

I chose LOVEMYFRESH, because anyone who is artistic in anyway whether its fashion, music, painting, poetry or art etc., has been called a “weirdo” jus for being different.

 LOVEMYFRESH:

LOVE=Represents Philly. Also to embrace, accept, appreciate, or as are young generation says, “I’m feeling that”.
MY FRESH= your style of fashion, art, music dance. Whatever your craft is your fresh. In this case, fashion is mine.

When u put it all together, it equals “except my style“. I embrace what I am doing and I separate myself from the normal. LOVEMYFRESH.
I hate looking like someone else; I set my own trends. I often refer to myself as being an “unrecognized trendsetter” -someone who does not care what others think, just doing me. People  shy away  from making themselves feel happy  just because they’re afraid what others may say, but don’t realize at the end of the day you have to do what makes you feel good. Therefore, if u want to wear purple shoes with yellow socks, which is your own unique style, I say, go for it.

If you see me, you would say he has a different style. I am not your typical Nike track sets, Prada, Gucci, just to fit in type of person. You could throw me in a thrift store and I would come out with a whole outfit. I am a person with many ideas and I feel as though I could contribute to the art of fashion in many ways styling, or designing. As of now, I have been customizing jackets, which includes patchwork, distressing, and a theme of the military. I took something that has was already done (patchwork) and put a different spin on a jean jacket, then took it to a camo jacket and have been taking it further. This is not the only thing I have to offer, so jus stay tuned. I feel as though we are at a period where every style of fashion has come back , that you shouldn’t be afraid to express yourself , so LOVE her fresh, LOVE his fresh , LOVEMYFRESH,  but mostly,  LOVE your own FRESH.

Who wore it better?…Something for the men.

My posts have been more geared towards women, but today I’m showing some love to the men.

With t-shirts starting at $300 and jackets topping off at $3,000, this trend is not for the fashion faint.  Who do you think wore it better. See how our fave celebs rock the look here:

I personally like all of their styles. They all have their own uniqueness and I am a fan of people who are their own trendsetters and not trend followers.

Kanye and Jay-Z kick started this trend, undoubtedly thanks, in part, to their collaboration with Givenchy’s head designer Riccardo Tisci on their Watch the Throne album artwork.
Swagger on a hundred, thousand trillion.

If you guys, want to spend $300 on a Givenchy tee?

18 ways to dress for less.

Financial expert and CPA, Stacy Johnson of MoneyTalksNews.com, shares his top tips for how to save on clothes.

1. Sell what you’re not wearing at a consignment shop. Before you buy your next article of clothing, go into your closet and remove everything in there that you haven’t touched for a year. Take it to a consignment shop. Take the stuff they don’t want to a thrift store so someone else can benefit. When you get cash for your old clothes, use it to buy some new, pre-worn ones. Hint: When you’re selling or buying used clothing, go to the fancy part of town. You know how rich people are; they’ll pay more for your stuff and give away theirs when they get bored. This is also true with thrift shopping and garage sales.

2. Buy out of season: shorts and bikinis in January, coats and sweaters in July.

3. Always check a coupon search engine first before you shop. Think of it as an instant savings dispenser attached to your computer.

4. Find it cheaper in the boy’s or men’s department. If you’re a woman shopping in a department store for something unisex like a T-shirt or sweatshirt, you might be able to spend less by shopping in the men’s section. Apparently the sexist pigs who price clothing believe women will pay more for comparable clothes than men. Call ‘em on it.

5. Don’t over-wash your clothes. It wears them out faster. Avoid dry-cleaning if possible, and when you do wash your clothes, avoid dryers. That lint in your dryer screen is made of little pieces of your clothes that get rubbed off. Hanging them on a rack or clothesline is better for them and your electric bill.

6. Develop a hangup: How many times have you had to wash otherwise unsoiled clothing just because you threw it in a wad on the floor?

7. Learn to sew: My mother wouldn’t let me leave for college until I’d mastered simple stitchery, like button-sewing. Next time you’re in a fancy hotel, take the sewing kit.

8. Trends are not friends: I realize this is easy advice for a man to give. After all, with the exception of fedoras, we’re basically still dressing like they did in the 40′s. Nonetheless, even I can tell when a silly trend isn’t going to last. Avoid them.

9. Shop outlet malls, but carefully. Did you know that some labels actually make less expensive, lower-quality goods specifically to sell in their outlet stores?

10. Use a budget: This is a tip that works for everything. If you plan what you’re going to spend, you’ll spend what you plan. Going over-budget? See tip one: It’s time to sell some clothes.

11. Use cash: Cash, along with budgets, are the ultimate way to avoid impulse buys. Remember all that stuff in your closet that you never wear? That’s where it came from.

12. Use a list: This applies to everything you shop for and is also effective at preventing impulse buys.

13. Swap with your friends: Have a small party and ask everyone to bring stuff they’re not wearing. What doesn’t get taken can be given to charity. Besides, your friends are going to borrow your clothes and not return them anyway… might as well get something back.

14. Shop online: Check out auction sites or discount clothing websites. That could save you sales tax, but make sure shipping isn’t eating up your savings. And before you check out, do a quick search for a coupon code for both the store and the item you’re buying.

15. Buy outfits, not items: It doesn’t do you any good to buy a shirt that doesn’t go with any of your pants. Plan ahead. Build a wardrobe around a few key things and make sure new additions build on that foundation.

16. Don’t buy clothes to change your mood: Don’t shop for the high, to build your self-esteem or to fight off depression or boredom. The good feeling you get by buying new clothes (and most other things) is temporary, ineffective and expensive. Physical solutions have no effect on emotional problems.

17. Shop alone: If you really need someone’s input, fine. But be aware that friends, especially when combined with our own ego, often result in purchases that we might not otherwise make.

18. Buy the right size: This almost sounds too obvious to mention, but even I’ve done it: “It’s a little too small, but that’s OK because I’m about to lose a few pounds.” Who am I kidding? If I’m really about to change sizes, what the heck am I doing shopping now?

Star Printed…Pass or Fail!?

Stars are the new “it” print these days. Small, big, patterned, shiny and mate all kind of stars on all kind of things, from Kim Kardashian to Jessica Alba has tried a new print on and amazingly enough the star print suits almost everybody.

I am not one to follow trends, but I like the stars. With that said though, I am sure someone is going to overdo it and tacky it out. I hate this thing in our fashion world, when we follow something, we cross the boundaries. I like it but in a very moderation way, so for me star print is good, so it is a PASS. However, the way people follow trends and over exaggerate, I am sure this will become a FAIL.

Color Trends for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012

A real fashionista always plans her wardrobe beforehand. The next fashion season designers have already supplied us with their ideas for Fall/ Winter 2011/ 2012 . So, why not start working on creation of impressive looks which your girlfriends will later look at enviously? My suggestion is to begin with colors. And here are all color trends for the coming season

The color ranges for women are filled with neutrals like maroon, camel, and caramels; mid-tones colors likes purple orange and red; and vivid hues like gold teal and turquoise.

Try mixing purple and gray, maroon and cooper, orange and gold instead of your normal gloomy fall colors. Have fun with the array of colors that fashion has to offer. The trends vary from 2010, with the new focus revolving around expressing oneself through art.

Be colorful. BeYOUtiful. xx
