DOWNLOAD: DJ Habit “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” (Ol’ Dirty Bastard) Kitchen Sink Mix

My boy, DJ HABIT aka HABITAT, which I know from back in the day…and the main reason I respect DEE JAY’S as a matter of fact made this mix of the great ODB (Ol’ Dirty Bastard). I cannot tell you what a HUGE impact Wu-Tang had on my taste of music. ODB was & still is one of my favorites from the Clan, because he had no filter. He would say some way out shit but it was real & till this day there has been NO other rapper in my opinion that even comes close to him. His style/technique was his & he crafted it to perfection. A lot of cats these days seem to forget that WU-TANG is a huge part of the foundation HIP HOP derived from. For those of you who don’t know who ODB is here is are some bullet point facts about the great late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Born, Russell Tyrone Jones (November 15, 1968 – November 13, 2004) an American rapper, occasional producer and native from New York, who went by the stage name Ol’ Dirty Bastard, ODB, Ason Unique, Osirus, Rainman, Big Baby Jesus and Dirt McGirt.. ODB was one of the founding members of the infamous hip hop group, Wu-Tang Clan. He was one of the founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan, a rap group primarily from Staten Island, New York that first rose to mainstream prominence with their 1993 debut album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

After establishing the Wu-Tang Clan, Ol’ Dirty Bastard went on to pursue a successful solo career. However, his professional success was hampered by frequent legal troubles, including incarceration. He died in late 2004 of a drug overdose, two days before his 36th birthday. Prior to his death, Ol’ Dirty Bastard managed to record his third solo album, which has been repeatedly delayed and as of 2013 has not been released. Jones was often noted for his trademark microphone techniques and his “outrageously profane, free-associative rhymes delivered in a distinctive half-rapped, half-sung style”.His stage name was derived from a childhood nickname given by RZA, the relevance of which was articulated by Method Man’s statement that there was “no father to his style”. ODB Quotes:

“Bitch, don’t talk about bitches I’m fucking them Please no fat bitches I’m fucking slim Unless it’s one of those nights I’m stroking my shit”

“I gets psycho killer Norman Bates!”

“I teach the truth to the youth. I say ‘Hey youth, here’s the truth: better start wearing bullet-proof’”
